Lexus’s LS has long been a low-key, underrated full-size luxury sedan. The 2022 models that Lexus debuted on Friday continue this trend, but add some nice features that should be considered more seriously than their more expensive European rivals.
The 2022 LS hasn’t changed much, but after a lot of thought, we like it. The most significant change is to make Lexus’s safety system Plus 2.5 the standard for all decoration levels. Making safety equipment the norm always wins US points. Well done, Lexus. This impressive set of features includes adaptive cruise control, lane maintenance assistance, pre-collision systems with automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams and signpost assistance.
Another new feature in 2022 is that vehicles equipped with luxury and administrative kits can choose to have Haku trim panels manually applied to their doors. Haku is a handmade metal foil that does an amazing job on the 2021 LS. Wider availability should help to further differentiate cars from other vehicles of the same class.
